Wishmakers On Campus is a program that is run on college campuses across the nation. Students hold fundraisers and events with the goal of raising money for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. This money helps to grant the wishes of children who are faced with life-threatening medical conditions. You can read more about the program by clicking here.
A Wishmakers On Campus chapter was started at Bloomsburg University in 2013. Founder Kalie Reidenbach was a wish child herself, and started the chapter with the hope of helping other children's dreams come true. BU Wishmakers On Campus hold various fundraisers throughout each semester, some of which include: bake sales, hot dog eating contest, Pie-in-the-Face, t-shirt sales, car washes, and more! In 2015, the money we raised helped a local wish child go to Disney World!
BU Wishmakers On Campus members not only fundraise for the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, but are also involved in other community and campus events. Our members volunteer to work at the Bloomsburg Soup Kitchen in order to give back to the community in which we live. Relay for Life is a huge on-campus event that raises money for a wonderful cause, and our organization takes part each year. Most recently, we ran a table and made grilled cheese for the event attendees. Additionally, Bloomsburg University hosts a Kids Activity Fair that is open to the public, which our Wishmakers contribute to. The theme for this semester was "professional careers". We set up a fun game in which the kids could throw a football through a hole, and live their dream of becoming a professional football player!
